Art Show at Thiruvanmiyur


From February 22 to March 2, the lovely campus of the Kalakshetra Foundation at Tiruvanmiyur, with its music and song drenched atmosphere, will provide the setting for yet another dimension of our national aesthetics and skills. It will be alight with colour and beauty as craftsmen from all over the country converge at its verdant premises to display their creativity.

To celebrate the birth anniversary of Rukmini Devi, founder of Kalakshetra, the Dastkari Haat Samiti in association with the Kalakshetra Foundation is organising a multi-media exhibition of artistic maps, crafts and textiles here. “The Indian Crafts Journey” and “Dastkari Haat” will be inaugurated by the Governor of Tamil Nadu, Surjit Singh Barnala, at 11 a.m. on February 22. Aruna Sairam will sing the prayer song. Comprehensive in its sweep, the 10-day festival will have many interesting features. The Crafts Bazaar is sponsored by the Development Commissioner Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

IPL Auction - The Historic Ocassion


The IPL Auction became the historic ocassion which was held in Hilton Towers at Mumbai.This great historic auction lasted for 10 hours and six players raked up the million dollar bid and other seventy players at present earned immediate financial security.

In the Auction,the maximum bidding is for Dhoni which went upto $1.5 million and he was finally taken by the Chennai team.

And the next highest bid is $1.35 million for the Australian player Symonds he was owned by the Hyderabad team.Likewise, Sanath Jayasuriya ,Ishanth Sharma,Pathan,Warne,Ponting and then finally Hayden were the top six million dollar bids in the IPL auction.

In the auction,the major attraction is for the men in blue and the aussies and they were bid for millions.And at the end of the auction, totally seventy nine players were taken except Mohammad Yousuf and Ashwell Prince.

IPL Auction - Dhoni is Priceless


In the IPL auction, the chennai team decided to go for M S Dhoni at any cost.This is because they dont have any icon players in their team,so they decided strongly to take
Dhoni.

At the auction- By the time the bid crossed $900,000 mark, there were only two teams bidding for Dhoni one is the Chennai team and the other is the Mumbai team.And then Chennai team raised its paddle to $1 million in reply to this Mumbai went one step ahead and bid $1.1 million.

And then likewise, bidding went to $1.3 million which was bid by the Mumbai team.And the Chennai team, knew that the Mumbai team should pay their icon player Sachin 15% more than their highest bid player,so the Chennai team finally bid $1.5 million for Dhoni and they took the Indian Skipper for their side.

By this Dhoni became the top billion dollar bid in the IPL auction at Mumbai.

Watch the eclipse today


There will be a total lunar eclipse visible in India today.

Piyush Pande the Director of Nehru Planetarium said that“The eclipse will be visible in western India, but only the beginning of the umbral phase [shadow] as the eclipse begins in this part at the time of sunrise and the setting of the moon today morning.

And he also said that the eclipse will be visible also from the Arctic region, western Asia, Arabia, most of Africa, Europe and the Americas too.

According to NASA,the next total lunar eclipse will be only in December 2010.

In India, Thursday’s event can be seen in the morning around 6-05 a.m., when the moon enters the penumbra phase. The moon will enter the shadow or the umbral phase at 7-13 a.m. This will last 51 minutes. At 10-39 a.m. it will move from the umbral phase. The phenomenon will end at 11-47 a.m. in India.

This year will have two pairs of eclipses including a total lunar eclipse on February 21 and a total solar eclipse on August 1. The total solar eclipse will be visible in India as a partial event and the partial lunar eclipse, on August 16, will be visible partially in India.

How's brilliant knock made kiwis to tie


In the 4th ODI, kiwis made great effort and fought with england to draw the match.The summary of the match is as follows kiwis won the toss and asked england to bat which made england to get a good total of 340 runs, and all the main batsmen contributed to this good score and particularly Collingwood's fifty was a remarkable one with six sixes.


Then kiwis started their innings with their openers their partnership last upto 70 runs then comes Jamis How likewise the innings continued with nice shots from Mc Cullum and How ,made kiwis more confident towards winning the game and then Mc Cullum goes and then the next two batsmen taylor and styris supported How which made england to cross 300 in 43rd over and from here nail bitting situation arised wickets were going on other side while How was in other end and then Wright came to bowl the last over, that time kiwis needed 7 runs from six balls singles were taken in first two balls and then a couple was scored and the next ball the great innings of How came to an end he was run out by Anderson.

Then the final ball of the innings kiwis needed two runs,vettori faced the final ball and he managed to edge it somehow and the match has been drawn finally.

Wow what a match that was!!!!!!!thanks to both the teams who gave a good entertaining game.

A Boundary Less Captain's Knock


India's young skipper M S Dhoni helped India to the win with his boundary less fifty in the eighth ODI against SriLanka in the CB series, and by these efforts he became one of the consistent middle order players for indian team.

And his boundary less fifty made a record that it is the 28th boundary less fifty in ODI's and he is the fifth indian to score such fifty,and previously such fifties were scored twice by the old skipper Mohammad Azharuddin.
