Art Show at Thiruvanmiyur

From February 22 to March 2, the lovely campus of the Kalakshetra Foundation at Tiruvanmiyur, with its music and song drenched atmosphere, will provide the setting for yet another dimension of our national aesthetics and skills. It will be alight with colour and beauty as craftsmen from all over the country converge at its verdant premises to display their creativity.

To celebrate the birth anniversary of Rukmini Devi, founder of Kalakshetra, the Dastkari Haat Samiti in association with the Kalakshetra Foundation is organising a multi-media exhibition of artistic maps, crafts and textiles here. “The Indian Crafts Journey” and “Dastkari Haat” will be inaugurated by the Governor of Tamil Nadu, Surjit Singh Barnala, at 11 a.m. on February 22. Aruna Sairam will sing the prayer song. Comprehensive in its sweep, the 10-day festival will have many interesting features. The Crafts Bazaar is sponsored by the Development Commissioner Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
